A mustachioed 19th-century Victorian gentleman, oil on canvas, framed by a soft oval vignette. The rich, moody background and beautiful craquelure add depth and authenticity, telling a story that has unfolded over generations.

The reverse retains a 1991 exhibition label from The Morris Museum, New Jersey, adding documented provenance and exhibition history to this remarkable portrait.

Housed in what appears to be its original gilt-lined frame, this is a timeless statement piece with presence and pedigree.

The painting has an apparent repair to the dark background and the frame has been chipped and painted. The artist is unknown. It measures 13” x 15”.
