A charming antique oil portrait of a young woman, oil on board, painted in the 1830s–1840s style, wearing a delicate lace-edged bonnet tied with a ribbon bow beneath the chin, and a wide pleated collar over a dark dress, characteristic of the early Victorian/Biedermeier period. Her direct gaze and gently rendered features give the portrait real warmth and presence. The work is unsigned. 

The oval portrait is set within a rectangular gilt mat and housed in a wonderfully ornate Rococo Revival giltwood and gesso frame, decorated with scrolling acanthus leaves, floral swags, and shell-form corner cartouches. 

The painting measures 12" x 10 1/2". The piece has been restored and is in good condition. There is a very light scratch, but no paint loss. The frame is likely newer, and is in excellent condition. Please see photos.
