Portrait of an Officer, Oil on Panel

A striking mid-19th century European portrait depicting a distinguished military or administrative officer, finely rendered in oil on panel. The sitter is shown in three-quarter view against a dark ground, wearing a deep navy double-breasted coat with brass buttons and a high white collar richly embroidered in gold..

The painting is signed in red at lower right, reading “G. Pantich.” Presented in a later, substantial, gilt frame, which complements the piece without being original to the work.

Measures 20"x18". The frame is 3" thick. There is a scratch in the upper left.
